Abstract: Presenters propose a model for family engagement via remote learning at a laboratory school in a MAT in TESOL program. The new model is situated in a social justice framework and builds on an existing parent/caretaker ESL curriculum, implemented at the Gilmore School in the previous years, to engage parents/caretakers and their children in reading. Families will not only read together, they will also learn about reading strategies, use new vocabulary words and discuss topics relevant to their children's experiences in school and beyond.
