Using Pear Deck as an Inclusive Digital Learning and Professional Development Tool in Higher Education

Abstract: This session will provide attendees with an interactive demonstration of how Pear Deck can be utilized in higher education or professional development as an engaging and inclusive teaching strategy for online learning and engagement. This approach to online pedagogy allows an instructor to facilitate equitable participation while maintaining academic rigor, encouraging creativity and providing opportunities for participants to express themselves authentically. This interactive, integrative technology tool bridges the digital divide to engage every participant online and in hybrid learning environments - synchronously or asynchronously. This session will demonstrate how Pear Deck can implemented as an equitable and inclusive instructional strategy within distance learning formats. The session will provide attendees opportunities to interact with four example Pear Deck sessions and include a demo of how a Google slide deck can by quickly be turned into a Pear Deck session. Attendees will be provided with resources such as free online training webinars and the Pear Deck handbook. The tool is simple to access from any smart device or computer and requires no training for attendees to participate. This session is intended for university and college professors, administrators, research and development professionals, trainers, tech support or marketing professionals - anyone looking for ideas on how to engage adult participants in an online or hybrid learning environments.
