Abstract: Welcome to Developing a Semester Portfolio: Teach Students How to Create a Learning Journal to Demonstrate Learning. Join the workshop and create a free webpage applicable for teaching and learning across disciplines. This is a hands-on workshop. Participants will customize webpages by inserting text, uploading images, video, and audio files, and share individual webpages using a unique URL. Participants will discuss how the new learning aligns with pedagogical approaches across disciplines. The intended experience level for participants is beginner.

Objectives

Participants will: 1 Learn how to create a free webpage using Adobe Spark. 1 Customize pages by inserting text, uploading images, video, and audio files. 1 Share individual webpages using a unique URL. 1 Discuss how the new learning aligns with pedagogical approaches across disciplines.

Topical Outline

1 5 minutes: Introductions 1 5 minutes: Present student examples from undergraduate students in the discipline of communications. Examples include graphics, video, audio, and reflection that demonstrate student learning throughout a semester. 1 15 minutes: Participants will set up a free account, select a theme for the webpage, and learn how to create a website and customize. 1 5 minutes: Participants will learn how to insert text. 1 10 minutes: Participants will upload personal images. 1 15 minutes: Participants will learn how to link audio to their webpage 1 10 minutes: Participants will learn how to link video to their webpage 1 10 minutes: Participants will learn how to share their webpage using a unique URL 1 15 minutes: Reflection and closing

Prerequisites

Although the intended experience level is beginner, attendees should be familiar with their device and have basic concepts of file organization.

Assistant Professor in the Communication Arts department teaching undergraduate and graduate students. Teaching experience includes ten-years in K-12 education with a Technology Applications certification.
