Abstract: COVID-19 has drastically impacted student learning across the globe. As a result of school closures, learners have experienced academic disruptions that resulted in a reduction of learning gains. Researchers have found that there is overall widening of the achievement gap across all grade levels. As a result, educators are determining how to best address COVID slide and prevent further learning loss. Recommendations for schools to support students during this unprecedented time include incorporating accelerated learning and the inclusion of technology-based resources. This presentation will focus on the impact of COVID slide and discuss its implications on student performance. Examples will be provided on how to further prevent COVID slide in K-12 and higher education settings. Specifically, this presentation will be provided in an interactive format that is inclusive of practical examples of how to support learners negatively impacted by educational disruptions that have resulted from COVID.
