Abstract: This workshop will introduce participants to social annotation for supporting learning and driving engagement in teacher education contexts. In education settings, social annotation transcends the limitations of discussion boards as it allows users to layer new knowledge directly on top of digital course content (e.g., syllabus, articles, PDFs, blog posts) and engage in collaborative sense-making. Attendees will 1) collaboratively annotate online documents, 2) Learn techniques for implementing social annotation in teacher education courses, and 3) Create a plan for using social annotation tools in their own teacher education contexts.
