The Professoriate and the Pandemic
Abstract: Teacher educators intrinsically value their work as dedicated to the preparation of expert teacher candidates and the impact of that work on the nation’s students. The continuation of that good work may be dependent on the tenure process. The pandemic has challenges for both junior and senior teacher education faculty. However, the impact may be far greater on those young in the tenure process. The necessity to re-examine research plans and pivot teaching, scholarship and service in response to today’s and tomorrow’s rapidly changing landscape in both universities and public schools is critical to the tenure process. Come. Sit on the line. Flock together. Vent frustrations but, more importantly, share solutions.
