Abstract: The shift to remote, hyflex, and hybrid learning, providing an experience that supports the development of social, teacher, and cognitive presence is more important than ever. FlipGrid provides an easy to use video-response platform. Typically characterized as a video discussion board, FlipGrid allows the instructor to post a prompt and learners respond to the prompt and each other through video. Structured like a discussion board, replies are attached the responses. However, it is so much more than just a video discussion forum. With the more recent features, users can create instructional videos that use stickers, images, emojis, white board, and text. In addition, FlipGrid provides automatic machine closed captioning of all videos, transcripts of the videos, private feedback features, and so much more. This session will model some of the features of FlipGrid, provide examples of how FlipGrid can enhance learning and support teaching, and give participants a "playground" to experience some of the features with specific tasks to explore how to use the platform. The techniques demonstrated in this session are applicable for P-12, higher ed, and in professional development.
