Exploring Online Interprofessional Education in Dietetics
Abstract: Interprofessional education (IPE) is an accreditation requirement and an important component of training for future registered dietitian nutritionists (RDNs). There are few published reports of online IPE in dietetics. In this presentation, the results of a pilot qualitative study are presented. The research questions were developed to explore the possible ways in which IPE can be delivered to students completing an online dietetics program. Results suggest that key dietetics faculty are attuned to the need for IPE for online dietetics students and that embedding IPE into existing courses is a practical approach from both the curricular and assessment standpoints.
