Abstract: This presentation explores the important topic of supporting online learners, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic. While online learning is not a new reality, the pandemic has made it a reality for many educators and their students. There is an opportunity at this time to consider how online learners are being supported by educators new to the virtual arena, as well as by educators who entered the pandemic already equipped with virtual teaching experience. What are some of the approaches and strategies being used to support online learners? In the presentation, one educator—an academic librarian at a state university—will share some perspectives associated with the current climate, offer an opportunity to reflect on the concept of support in an online learning environment, and begin a discussion on how support is being provided to online learners during COVID-19.
