Abstract: Online learning has become the primary modality of learning due to COVID-19 pandemic. Prior to COVID-19, only a handful of instructors had opted to teach online courses. Consequently, transitioning all face-to-face courses to online teaching has been an enormous undertaking for many institutions. Although there is a growing interest in developing online learning activities, little is done to support and train instructors on the many educational technology tools available to them. The pandemic has revealed a need to deliver training to instructors at different levels then follow up with technical support to allow them to progress at their own pace and become confident in their application of the technology tools. This brief paper is a proposal for an intensive four-day instructional technology institute for instructors. The goal of the Instructional Technology Institute is to meet the technical training and professional development needs of instructors transitioning to online teaching.
