The Status of Technology Integration by Teachers in the United States and India: A Cross-Cultural Comparison

Abstract: This is a research paper delving in the literature of technology integration by teachers in the countries, USA and India. US being the strongest democracy and India being the largest democracy provide a strong ground to analyze how and to what extent innovative practices are integrated in school education at both these places. Teachers’ beliefs play a critical role in acceptance or rejection of technology in teaching which has been emphasized in the paper. The historical development of events related to technology in education have been referred in order to comprehend the present status in the cross-cultural comparison. A comparative narrative has been constructed which helps one to look into the past and the present and at the same time, formulate predictions for the future which seem to be bright and welcoming when it comes to technology integration in teaching. Just that the level and rate of integration differ due to the several challenges surrounding at both, local and global levels.
