Intergenerational Learning of IT Literacy
Abstract: Information technology (IT) literacy seems to be necessary for all age people nowadays. Mainly IT literacy has two aspects: ethics and skills. The young people tend to be skilled in the use of IT gadgets but not to be ethical because of their little life experiences. On the other hand, the almost elderly people are matured enough to be ethical but their IT skills are often poor. From this point of view, we found that the relation between young and elderly people is mutually complementary. Therefore we came up with the idea of the intergenerational learning of the IT Literacy. We developed the contents for the learning of IT literacy, then conducted the preliminary experiments with the young and elderly subjects. We found that such intergenerational pairwise learning are effective compared to the isolated self-study, and can realize a relaxed atmosphere among the learners.
