Investigating the relationship of game familiarity, flow, intrinsic motivation, achievement in educational game base learning

Abstract: This paper supposes hypotheses that the effect of game-based learning depends on the characteristics of players like as game familiarity, intrinsic motivation, and flow. First of all, players are necessary to prepared for basic skills of game. The study used structural equation modeling. The participants are fifth grade students of elementary school. Educational software game, Zoombini game is used. Game familiarity has both direct and indirect effects in game achievement, and has direct effects in flow, but little impact in intrinsic motivation. Teacher using game based learning need to consider of learner’s game familiarity and to stimulate intrinsic motivation by flow.
