Abstract: Global learning is an educational phenomenon that goes beyond national boundaries. It is concerned with intercultural and international aspects of education as well as specific content areas. Technological advances of this millennium have allowed for students from different countries, backgrounds, and cultures to study and learn together and enhance their educational experiences. Global learning is critical for pedagogues as well as students in order to embrace world cultures and events and develop as citizens of the world. Institutions are taking advantage of technology to support learning communities, both for faculty and for students. The benefits for all as individuals and as parts of knowledge communities cannot be overemphasized. This paper provides a background into global learning. The generic goals of global learning will be discussed as well as the technology that facilitates them. Global learning in support of faculty development and growth will be addressed.
