Bridging the Digital Divide: Connecting Teachers with those on the other side of the divide
Abstract: The Digital Divide refers to the gap between people with effective access to information technology and those with very limited or no access. Many individuals have come to understand the digital divide through several resources. Unfortunately, individuals who understand the divide still exhibit apathy toward those on the other side of the divide. Therefore, it is important that we develop a way to promote exploration and experimentation with the lives of those on the other side of the digital divide. Narrative can be used to promote exploration and experimentation. However, most classes that teach on the digital divide do not use narrative to teach about the lives of those on the other side of the digital divide. This article chronicles the attempt of one instructor in his use of digital narratives to help his student’s experiment and explore the lives of those on the other side of the digital divide.
