Abstract: Texas Southern University received a grant from the National Sciences Federation to design an Artificial Intelligence (AI) program from 2015 to 2019. The objective of the program is to infuse innovative AI tools into traditional problem-solving routines through problem-based learning approach and to better align the engineering curriculum with societal needs. In order to sustain the successful grant program, three strategies have been built into the process of the implementation, 1) academic curriculum expansion, 2) research-driven instructional improvements, and 3) alignment of education to societal needs. The development of a sustainable environment is the key to continue the program’s goals, principles and achieved outcomes. This session will share with audience the strategies that have been used to sustain the success of this grant program.
