Abstract: This paper explores the concept of readiness for technology adoption and how it relates to different role players in the higher education environment. In particular, this paper discusses the Readiness for Technology Adoption (RTA) framework and how it is used to gauge thinking about the integration of new technologies. It is argued that, although the RTA framework proposes a specific technology readiness and adoption sequence, faculty might be ready to adopt and implement new and innovative technologies (due to a number of institutional drivers and change) even though institutional readiness for development, deployment and implementation is not yet mature. This is illustrated with reference to an Innovation project.
