Abstract: Content curation versus content creation is a hot discussion topic among corporate trainers. The ease of accessibility and overall savings gained in resourcing content have led many corporations to curate rather than create original content. However, when choosing to use preexisting content, factors including copyright infringement must be considered. The paper discusses public domain, fair use, and educational exemption; makes recommendations regarding acquiring permission to use; and discusses example licenses and services for use in curation. Companies should compare the benefits with the drawbacks to make a sound decision as to what works best for their situation.
