Preparation in Selecting Technology in Math Classrooms
Abstract: Technology preparation programs and professional development are the foundation in providing teachers with support and learning experiences in technology integration. This paper discusses studies on the design of technology preparation programs and the requirements of technology integration. Furthermore, this paper discusses teachers’ attitudes and perceptions and professional development on technology integration by looking at several studies. A study is conducted to determine how teachers are prepared in selecting technology in math classes. A survey is conducted, and results are interpreted to determine if teacher preparation programs and professional development are effectively preparing teachers. Results from the study are discussed, concluding that the design of preparation programs and professional development is necessary for preparing teachers to integrate technology into content-specific classes. This paper encourages further research on the process in which teachers select technology into their math classrooms.
