Share Paper: Case Study of a Virtual Field Experience in an Online Teaching and Learning Endorsement

Abstract: K-12 enrollments in online learning in the U.S. continue to grow at a fast pace. Given that many in-service teachers completed teacher preparation programs that did not prepare them for online teaching, universities have begun providing graduate certificates or endorsements in online teaching and learning. An important element of these programs is the inclusion of a virtual field experience. The goal of this roundtable presentation is to share experiences and outcomes of a virtual field experience in an online teaching and learning endorsement. Presenters also hope to learn from participants’ experiences with preparing in-service teachers for teaching online.
