Abstract: In 2013, the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (UTC) embarked on a curriculum mapping process for all programs and courses. During this in-depth campus-wide initiative, all program level outcomes were reviewed and mapped within courses to course learning outcomes. In 2015, we expanded this process to further ensure quality and consistency of online and hybrid courses through course review, as well as alignment of course learning outcomes to course materials, activities, and assessments. For this process, we adopted the Quality Matters standards, which include an evidence-based rubric grounded in best practices. UTC’s implementation of this course review process has involved faculty engagement and development, as well as course design and review through peer evaluation aligned with the rubric. This session will provide a history and overview of the curriculum mapping implementation process at UTC, including how this relates to our Learning Management System (LMS) and development of shared resources and course frameworks designed to provide consistent and clear expectations for students, reduce cognitive load and dissonance, and assist in the demonstration of alignment with professional and regional accreditation requirements. In addition, we will demonstrate the LMS framework and application of curriculum mapping to our online and hybrid course spaces.
