Abstract: eWhile the success an educator has with a diverse student population is not specifically connected to race/ethnicity, gender, socio-economic status or a host of other demographic factors, the lack of diversity among educators exacerbates problematic issues within school divisions related to an absence of multiple cultural lenses. Considering these issues and trends, the recruitment and retention of teachers of color becomes more substantial. One major barrier in the recruitment and retention of university teacher preparation program candidates is the initial teacher licensure examinations.
