Creating a Faculty Learning Community to Share Best Practices in Distance Education
Abstract: The project explored the effectiveness of the Faculty Learning Community (FLC) as a means to create collaboration among faculty, improve instruction, and ensure quality outcomes for students in satellite and online programs. FLC members met throughout the academic year to foster relationships, engage in training, and plan upcoming projects. FLC outcomes included: collaboration, creativity, and community among faculty across disciplines; opportunities for non-tenure and tenure track faculty to engage, partner, and share instructional strategies; and the establishment of new avenues for scholarship and research.
