Students’ Autonomy in Online Learning: Perceptions and Reality
Brief Paper
ID: 51366
Abstract: Learner autonomy is one of the major contributors to educational success Mathematics and education students were surveyed to investigate their level of confidence in a variety of learning aspects, and to determine what factors encourage or inhibit the development of autonomous learning in online university classroom environments Results indicate that whereas most students report high levels of confidence in their ability to be autonomous learners, their actual study habits and behaviors often contradict those beliefs Solutions to resolve that disparity and implications for further research are discussed
