Abstract: The subject of keeping online learners engaged is a content concern in online learning This paper suggests that creating a sense of community among online learners can help learners better engage in the course, create a richer learning experience, and can be easily steered into a community of practice Theoretical tools such as Moore’s Transactional Distance Theory and the Community of Inquiry model can help us understand how to create a sense of community can be made, and then newer perspectives, tools, and technologies create the setting for a community of learning to form
