Abstract: This paper examines community building in the blended learning classroom and the social and cultural implications of providing authentic learning experiences. In two blended classrooms at two different academic institutions, community building and engagement were studied as best practices to facilitate inquiry and creative discovery of the world in connection with and between others. An authentic project was completed in both courses with results indicating classroom community existed, along with a social and learning environment.
