Abstract: To fulfill the potential of Facebook in promoting student academic learning, it is imperative to gain understanding of how Facebook is currently used in educational settings. This study is designed to investigate how Facebook is utilized in university courses. The setting for the study is a large urban university in the United States. This longitudinal study spans over a period of two years. The purpose of the study is to provide baseline data on how Facebook is used in enhancing student learning in university courses.
