Abstract: In 2014 and 2015 Independence University started a curriculum redevelopment agenda to enhance standardized curriculum by teaming Subject Matter Experts with a trained professional in curriculum development that used the research based Wiggins Backward Design Model, to redesign standardized curriculum. Wiggins suggests a simple three step process of (1) identifying and writing clear measurable learning objectives, (2) creating the assessment questions or task to specifically align to each learning objective and (3) finding resources and creating lessons that align directly with those learning objectives.
