Abstract: Direct and personal observation of children has been a traditional approach to course content and development in early childhood education. Children are observed and assessed individually and in multiple early care and education settings. Program review checklists are completed to develop understanding of characteristics of the learning environment and develop observation skills. Online programs serve individuals who may working traditional and/or non-traditional hours, and are unable to observe children in different settings due to scheduling constraints.
