Abstract: Although students with disabilities are often the first thing educators and designers think of in regard to inclusion and course accessibility, utilizing Universal Design for Learning (UDL) in courses ensures accessibility for all learners. UDL promotes equal opportunities for all learners, including not only those with disabilities, but also non-traditional students, English language learners, and others. This paper will examine the concepts of inclusion and accessibility, address non-traditional student populations, define and evaluate methods of UDL in online education, and give specific steps to ensure UDL and accessibility.
