Abstract: Over the last decade the Finnish government has encouraged the higher education sector to develop transnational education and increase their international program offering. In order to develop a scalable and sustainable model of international education many institutions have looked to e-learning technologies as a solution. In response to these policies, Tampere University of Applied Sciences (TAMK) has developed a number of innovative online programs that have been offered in fully online and blended format in a diverse range of countries. The objective of this presentation is to showcase the online programs offered by TAMK in teacher education and health sciences. The presentation will describe the underpinning pedagogy and structure of the programs and examine the research that has resulted. We will also outline our future plans, while seeking to establish new contacts and potential partnerships.
