Abstract: Abstract:This paper presents results from a series of interviews with patients in cardiology clinics within a Veteran’s Health Administration hospital. The Veteran patients were between 18 and 80 years old and had been diagnosed with atrial fibrillation. Participants completed semi-structured interviews in which they described their history of atrial fibrillation and their experience of discussing treatment options with their physician. Participants were also shown a paper mock-up of a shared decision-making support tool called “Veterans Like Me”.
