Abstract: This article presents a networked role-playing detective game for elementary school students as part of a three-year long research project created to support online collaborative argumentation activities. This game was developed using JSP, AJAX, HTML, and JavaScript technologies, to run on an Apache Tomcat web server. Student players can use a networked computer and Internet browser to participate in a text-based dialogic argumentation, give their opinions based on a dilemma issue, and comment on their partner’s arguments. Students are expected to develop the ability to construct quality arguments through detective role-playing and collaborative argumentation processes.
