Measuring self-experience within enquiry-based e-learning processes: On the need for qualitative oriented evaluation strategies within enquiry-based e-learning
Abstract: This paper presents a theoretical grounded qualitative evaluation strategie of enquiry based e-learning. Enquiry-based e-learning is a complex model within broader programmatic e-learning approaches. It has been developed at various institutions, including the Carl von Ossietzky University Oldenburg (Germany). Alongside the development of a theoretical foundation for enquiry-based e-learning, various pilot courses have been run since the winter term of 2013/14. Implementation raises the question of quality. It is in this context that the concept of a theoretical grounded qualitative orientated evaluation of enquiry-based e-learning has been developed. This paper presents the theoretical foundations of enquiry-based learning in general and enquiry-based e-learning in particular. Why self-experience plays a crucial role within enquiry-based e-learning will be explored in the course of the paper, and similarly how it can be evaluated as part of a holistic quality management strategy.
