Abstract: e-learning has been experiencing unprecedented growth worldwide and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future, since it is considered a critical tool for the academic and corporate competitiveness in all sectors in the knowledge Era. However, in order to ensure the quality of e-learning content implementation and sustainability, there is a need for managing e-learning risks appropriately. To this end, based on the e-learning processes described by eLGORM, a reference model for e-learning governance, this article presents a qualitative and quantitative risk analysis. The latter one is based on an e-learning project experience at Cecierj Foundation. The article shows that identifying and quantifying risks help in overcoming important challenges faced by the area, such as delivery delay and low quality of course content materials, increase in e-learning project costs, lack of e-learning programs alignment with business goals and learners´ dissatisfaction and evasion, among others.
