e-Rating for Monitoring Students’ Academic Performance in Undergraduate Medical Education
Abstract: The monitoring of students’ academic performance in undegradaute medical education remains a challenge due to a large number of students (n=200) per one teacher. In September, 2013 the group of teachers in Humanities agreed to create an e-rating (e-R) where students’ academic performance was demonstrated. Every teacher developed their own design of the e-R according to the structure of their elective course. The access to e-Rs was opened to all students, teachers and departments’ administration by a link in the e-content of the courses. The experience of introducing e-R showed that students were active in monitoring their grades and they noticed that open-access e-R motivated them to achieve better results in their study. Moreover, teachers found e-R useful in systematizing students’ academic performance and searching necessary information. Departments’ administration also used e-R for quality management purposes.
