Abstract: In this paper we conduct a literature review to evaluate known challenges and concerns with current MOOC deliveries methodologies and the technologies used to support them. From this evaluation, we discuss the characteristics of virtual world technologies as well as trends in the field of online course delivery. A value-add assessment is made to support the argument that proposes the use of virtual world technologies as a viable platform to meet the current challenges facing MOOC course delivery.
