Integration of ICT for Developing Distributed Leadership in Learning Networks

Abstract: This paper analyses the importance of distributed leadership in Learning Networks and presents new organizational training practices by integrating ICT. The team-based formal or informal networked or virtual (online) collaboration requires a different kind of leadership from that in positional hierarchies. Distributed leadership responses to complex situations and fosters team performance, facilitated through group interaction and decision-making, active distribution of specific tasks. The paper follows a qualitative research approach: case study. Drawing on qualitative evidence the paper analysis distributed leadership development process in an informal, networked, technology-enabled environment. The project influenced new style of relationship in the form of distributed leadership and improved efficiently learning capabilities. The analyses of research results revealed that applying ICT technologies for developing distributed leadership was associated with higher networked team as well as training performance.
