Towards Personalised Q&A WebPortal
Abstract: Most e-learning systems in Thailand fail to take account of the differences in user background knowledge, or interest, all of which have direct impact on the way students learns materials. This paper presents an alternative to the development of e-learning systems. Based on the enquiry-based learning and the cognitive domain of Bloom’s Taxonomy, the Q&A WebPortal is the learning tool allowing students to search for information in a goal-directed fashion. With the functionality provided, the students can pursue exploratory navigational strategies based on Bloom’s Taxonomy, resulting in learning. The paper also proposes the integration of links adaptation techniques to the Q&A WebPortal to provide users with additional links reflecting the categories in the cognitive domain. We argue that every learning tool should categorise the materials into the six categories, and the Q&A WebPortal makes this possible. With the adaptive link augmentation technique, students can be provided with additional links to contents in a similar category.
