Abstract: Efforts to assist faculty in adopting new technology or course designs often encounter two barriers: (a) faculty have little time and limited experience with new technologies or course designs, and (b) service agencies have limited resources for providing training, support, and instructional design. How can faculty explore new technologies and pedagogy in a focused fashion that accommodates their many other obligations, and how can resource-poor support agencies best assist them? One university has responded to these challenges with a systematic approach to faculty development that enrolls small cohorts of faculty in intensive, often immersive training.
