Abstract: Starting out from the beliefs that student engagement and learning content are important parts of higher education, the authors of this paper try to argue that well planned online learning can be superior to traditional on-campus situations. Based on experiences and feedback from professors and students in several globally distributed online courses it is claimed that student cohesion, completion rates and learning experiences are very positive. Good online education requires carefully designed courses, well-trained tutors and continuous interaction and feedback.
