Creating Sustainable E-Learning Infrastructures – Moving Beyond the Course as the Unit of Instruction

Keynote Conversation ID: 14783

Abstract: Our thinking about design models, licensing, and reuse are still rooted in industrial models, and the publishing and instructional development marketplace continues to dictate many of the technical systems, specifications, and standards to store, manage, and reuse digital and non-digital learning content. This session explores the cultural issues of the ecosystem, from both the developer and learner perspectives, that are blocking widespread adoption of more sustainable digital content development strategies. The session will examine what’s necessary to move beyond this disconnect to a future that is both expansive and profitable. The session will provide several learning and development models that are often obvious to technology-savvy youth, but frequently escape the attention of seasoned, mid-career developers, and learning managers.
