Abstract: This paper describes the development and effects of e-mentoring guidelines for an international e-Learning course implemented by a Japanese university. Amongst learner-supporting activities in e-Learning, the authors focus on direct learner support through CMC or mentoring. Systematic guidelines for mentors were developed and its effects were evaluated. As a result, dropout rate lowered, mentoring was received higher evaluation and other effects were observed.
