Abstract: Reading comprehension is one fundamental unit of life-long learning and success and schools are under pressure to improve their students’ reading comprehension. Structure Strategy training with one on one tutoring has shown improvement on measures of reading comprehension for a wide variety of readers of all ages. We designed and developed a web-based intelligent tutoring system (ITSS) The system was tested for one year in three public schools in grades 5 and 7, and has been very successful in improving reading comprehension on standardized and researcher designed measures. We report on the design of ITSS as well as preliminary research results
