Using Knowledge Management Platform in Instruction to Improve Teaching Introspection of Teachers
Abstract: This study focused on teachers of vocational high schools in integrating KM platform into instruction and by observing the effectiveness of the platform in promoting their teaching reflection processes. The study was undertaken qualitatively and quantitatively, including literature review, a developmental design of integrating KM into curriculum, self-evaluated questionnaire of teachers, an attitude scale of vocational high school students, and finally, in-depth interviews in pre-, mid-, and post-instructional stages. The study found, teachers tended to prefer the two dimensions of knowledge acquisition and knowledge-sharing in terms of platform interactions, and teachers using the platform for accessing Content Knowledge accounted for 40%, the highest in overall KM. On the other hand, students demonstrated positive and affirmative attitudes towards teachers’ integration of KM into the instruction and the test revealed significant difference in overall scale rating and neutral attitude. In three in-depth interviews, this study summarized teachers’ changes during the experiment.
