Attitudinal Influences on Technology Usage in Higher Education
Abstract: The Pew Internet and American Life study has recently found that American Universities are not promoting the use of new technologies as expected. Professors' beliefs in their personal efficacy to motivate and promote learning affect the types of learning environments they create and the level of academic progress their students achieve (Bandura). It is imperative that we address this reluctance in order to provide inclusion of both faculty and students in the information revolution that began with the Internet and that continues to sweep the globe. This study considers the psychological barriers that may contribute to technological and digital inequality within a University community.
