Abstract: In this paper, we seek to understand and document the experiences and views of teachers who are in their first year of instructing secondary students online. Specifically, we wished to pursue the following research objectives: What are practicing teachers’ most successful experiences in teaching online students? What are some challenges and difficulties that online teachers have? Data was collected from a focus group interview of 6 practicing teachers who are new to online teaching in secondary schools. The analysis of the data has shown a number of positive aspects and challenges teachers face when teaching secondary students online. Although teachers are excited about the new opportunities and their students’ achievements, there are also many difficulties that are unique in the online environments.
