Abstract: The NSW HSC Online project is approaching a decade of existence. Arguably a unique enterprise, it represents a collaborative venture of Charles Sturt University and the NSW Department of Education and Training. Its website delivers resources for nearly 50 subject nodes, including VET areas, to Higher School Certificate students/teachers, including those in rural and remote regions. Other non subject-specific nodes further enhance the website. Users can communicate via online forums; other interactive and audiovisual features service small and diverse cohorts. Peak usage periods indicate the success of this educational venture, with nearly 2 million pages delivered in the month leading to the state’s public examination. An evaluation of the site provided feedback on user reactions to content/design, as well as useful data to inform further development of the project. The enterprise merits consideration as a global model for collaborative online delivery of quality educational resources, with strong equity dimensions.
