Evaluating Effectiveness of Blackboard System Using TAM Framework: A Structural Analysis Approach
Abstract: Recent years have witnessed a growing use of courseware applications and course development tools to supplement traditional teaching. Limited studies have evaluated effectiveness of such new technologies. In this paper a survey is conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of Blackboard instructional platform system in terms of students’ perceptions based on the students’ interactive behaviors with the Blackboard learning environment. The classical Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) framework is utilized. Results suggest that technology ease of use and usefulness positively impact students’ attitude towards the system which in turn determines technology effectiveness. Perception of usefulness also significantly influences technology effectiveness.
