Abstract: Corporations and organizations who engage in enterprise-wide e-Learning must realize that the initial expense is costly and therefore, top level management, learners and instructors must buy into its advantages and be trained to use it effectively. It is critical for organizations to engage in a thorough strategic planning process to insure understanding and buy-in by executive management who will pay for the purchase, development and support of software, hardware, content and time spent by learners. Staff engagement in the process encourages buy-in that decreases the e-Learning drop out rate and/or failure to initially engage in the learning. A model for engaging an organization in strategic planning for e-Learning will be presented and the advantages and disadvantages of several variations will be discussed.
